Super Duper Mom

Sometimes I get a little over ambitious....or think that I am more creative than I really am. Well, the past few weeks have been no exception. Now that I am a mom I feel like I should be better at mom things...you know, scrapbooking, crafty stuff, blanket making...the works. Well, unfortunately I'm not creative or crafty....just ambitious. When I found out I was pregnant I decided that my children should have home made Christmas stockings like I had growing up. So, I bought these very elaborate stocking kits thinking of the wonderful Christmas' ahead and how much my kids would love them. Well, here they sit, shoved under a chair in my living room, with an hours worth of work done before I realized, I can't even sew sequins on a piece of felt! So, after that I gave up on the blanket idea (luckily, other talented women have made lovely blankets for Jack). I decided a few weeks ago that I would make Jack's baby announcements. I had my brother-in-law take some pictures, and Jay took some pictures, I spent a little while at the craft store looking for ideas when reality set in. I can't even tie a bow to stick to the top of card stock :) Then I got home, looked around the house and saw the moving boxes and the ever growing stack of spit-up laundry, realized I had to feed Jack for the 257th time that day and decided that no one cares when they get birth announcements, they cost too dang much to mail and I can just post the pictures on my blog :) So, long story longer...here are some more cute pictures of Jack :)

Here are Jay and Jack's feet. They are almost identical! Long stinkin' toes!

This one is my favorite...I love naked baby pictures :)

Jay hates this picture. "Jack is going to run for president one day and this picture is going to come up and people will think he's gay". I saw a cute announcement that had a picture like this....the baby is supposed to look like a present. Well, this just makes Jack look like a girl or a fairy. Plus, he peed on the sheet while we were trying to take it. I guess we will save this idea for when we have a girl :)

House Arrest

The past three weeks have been fabulous! Jay has been able to be home with Jack and I. I love hanging out with our little family. However, I can't wait until Jack is a bit older and we can actually leave the house. As much as I love watching The Bachelor marathons and staying in my pajamas until noon, it will be nice to join civilization again. 3 more weeks and hopefully his little immune system will be tough enough so we can go to the mall or something :)

Jack had his two week appointment last week and had already gained a pound. The Dr. told me to let him sleep as long as he wants and not wake him up to eat since he is apparently gaining weight like a champ. This is great news for me! He sleeps for 4-5 hour stretches at night before he gets hungry! Wahoo!! I can't wait for them to get a little longer. Although, I'm amazed at how well I am adjusting to less sleep. I suppose sitting around the house all day doesn't exert too much energy, though.

Here are some more recent pictures of the little munchkin.....

Jay was a little bummed out when he realized how boring newborns are. However, he still finds a way to entertain himself....

Jack sits in his chair and stares at the wall. Apparently we have fascinating walls.

Here is Jack looking like a little old man. His arms are too long for his outfits already. He is sporting the 3/4 look :)

Jay and Jack napping (yes, our child sleeps in a nightgown like a little girl....they are just so easy when you have to change a diaper in the dark!)

My gosh, isn't he cute when he sleeps? :)

Jack Wyatt Durrant!!!

Baby Jack has finally arrived! He was born on May 22nd at 1:59am. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 inches long. He is so cute and we just love him! I can't imagine life without this little guy. He is a complete angel. He sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. I'm sure that will change once he is a little older :) But for now we will take advantage of it.

April showers....I wish!!

It's snowing outside and since my feet are so bloody swollen, I am wearing flip flops. Brilliant. Spring better get her quickly before I go insane.

On a lighter note, Jay graduates this week! Although, he doesn't want to walk and we aren't attending any of it, I thought l would tell him Congratulations!! You did a great job, babe! Now let's get the heck out of this place! :)

Last weekend was my baby shower in Colorado. It was wonderful! I was glad to be able to see all of my sisters, my mom and my friends. Plus, we got a lot of really cool stuff :) Now I feel a little more prepared to have this baby. Although, how ready can you really get when your life is about to change forever? :)

Jack is apparently in a hurry to get here. We almost didn't get to go to CO as I was in the hospital with close contractions a week before. Luckily though, he has managed to stay in for a little longer and our Dr. gave us the ok to go. We have made it to the 34 week mark which was the Dr.'s goal. Hopefully we can make it another 2 or 3 weeks! So, if you don't hear from us...that is why :)

Jay is so excited for Jack to get here so they can go on a hike and go to Lake Powell. I had to explain to Jay that we are having a baby, not a 5 year old. I am so lucky to have a husband that loves kids and is so excited to be a dad. I can't wait to see the two of them together. They are going to be best buddies :)
