Merry Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! Mostly because it hit the 23rd and I wasn't still pregnant :) So happy for an early baby!

Nothing starts Christmas morning like a stocking (or mouth) full of chocolate.

I can't believe how trashed our house was after presents.

Luke slept through the whole thing. What an angel.

I'm not sure who had more fun building this. Jack was so glad to have his dad home for a few days.

Luke was able to play baby Jesus in the nativity at a friends house. We had a great time and he did a fabulous job. Jack was supposed to be a sheep, but backed out at the last minute. Apparently he won't be an entertainer.

We have been doing a lot of this.....

Jack is loving having a little buddy. However, he over estimates Luke's capabilities. He found out that Luke can not catch a football yet, or wrestle. If Luke makes it to his first birthday, I will consider his life a success.

So cute in their matching jammies. Thanks Mandi!

I realize now that it will be a rare occasion when both boys look decent in a picture. This is as good as it got. Close enough.

Isn't he the sweetest? I could just eat him up!

Year of the Wood

(Disclaimer: I apologize if I get mushy. I try not to do that in public.)

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary. Apparently the traditional gift for a 5th anniversary is something made of wood. What on earth? I hope Jay doesn't get his hopes up for a wooden gift.
When is the diamond year? That's the only one I'm worried about :)

Jay and I met on a blind date. I thought he was a little prude, he thought I was inappropriate. It worked for us :) 8 months later we were married. What a fantastic whirlwind! What a happy wedding day! He still gives me butterflies.

Luke Johnson Durrant

Luke Johnson Durrant
12/7/10
11:40am
7 lbs.
21 in.

Birth story:
1. Water broke at 2:00 am
2. Drove to the hospital really fast
3. Got the epidural and progressed really slowly
4. Felt fantastic, did my make-up and watched E!
5. Dr. came at 11:30
6. Luke came out at 11:40

Here is my very last pregnant picture. I promise this is me, not a whale.

So, when Luke was born, it was pretty much like watching the Dr. pull a Mandrake out of a pot (Harry Potter mandrake). He was all squidged up and he made the exact same sound. Kind of freaked me out, actually.

Jack isn't so sure of Luke, but he is putting forth a pretty good effort. However, when we brought him home from the hospital, Jack said, "Take Luke home, mom." I said, "He is home" and Jacks reply was, "No. Jack's house. Luke's house hospital". Ahhh, brotherly love :)

He is a very sweet baby and we are happy he is here!

These Are My Thanksgiving Pants

I have a lot of reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving.

1. Maternity pants are VERY stretchy. I should wear them every Thanksgiving...not just the pregnant Thanksgivings.
2. Jay has a great job and gets 3 days off from work to play with us!!
3. I am not on bed rest anymore.
4. I have awesome friends, family and neighbors who cooked, cleaned, took Jack places, sent me packages, made costumes, brought me movies, took over my calling at church and sat around and gossiped with me while I was on bed rest.
5. I haven't gained as much weight this pregnancy.
6. We got a new sliding glass door and it slides so easily that I don't have a contraction every time I open it.
7. We have family here with us for the next 3+ weeks!
8. Said family will be able to watch Jack while I push out #2. (Clarification....baby #2)
9. Pumpkin pie
10. Jack calls me Dude Mom
11. I didn't get the black Mustang stripe on my belly this time (yet).
12. I can finally leave the house and bought new mascara today.
13. Baby is healthy.

It's the little things that count :)

I saw the Dr. last week and was measuring a little small. So, I went in for an ultrasound and the baby is measuring 6 days bigger than my due date :) They think he is already 6 pounds and he is finally head down :)

Since my belly is more impressive from the front, here is a sweet shot for you. Jack also wanted to get in on the action.

35.5 weeks. So close!!

Have a very Happy and delicious Thanksgiving!

Superman

I realize Jay doesn't get a whole lot of face time on the blog. Well, today is his lucky day!

Jay has spent the past year working his butt off in school. He spends all of his days studying and taking care of us. The entire year he has been applying to internships and different jobs to help him gain a little experience. The economy has not been our friend and he just kept getting overlooked for more experienced people. But, he just kept on plowing through. Finally, last week he was offered a job! A great job even! He started this week and is really enjoying it! (Don't ask me what he does...I still don't understand. If you watch Friends, I would say Jay is a Transponster...just like Chandler.)

The timing couldn't be better with a new little guy on the way. It is nice to feel a little more secure. So, for the next year while Jay works all day and goes to school and studies all night, you probably won't get to see much of him. Don't feel bad, I won't get to see much of him either. So, here are a couple of things about Jay so you will remember him when he resurfaces next December.

1. He is super hot.
2. He tells really funny jokes.
3. He has the sexiest legs I have ever seen.....even better than Brad Pitt in Troy with his little skirt....(hmmmm, Halloween idea for next year!)
4. He loves the Nuggets....no matter how bad/good they are
5. He eats chips and salsa every day
6. He loves Jack and baby #2
7. He loves me more than the Nuggets, chips and salsa, and our boys :)
8. He is a great example of love and service, even when he is already stretched too thin

I love you, Jay! You are the man of my dreams :) I can't wait for all of the adventures ahead of us!

Robin in the Hood

Halloween with a two year old is pretty hilarious. Jack is really starting to understand candy and I am starting to understand bribery:) It seems to go hand in hand. I can get him to do a lot of things for just 3 Skittles. It's amazing. But let's face it, I will do a lot for 3 Skittles, also.

We got to celebrate Halloween twice....with 2 different costumes. Our neighbor gave Jack a skeleton costume which he wore for our apartment party. He went around to all of 5 people and got more candy than I could believe. He schmoozes the old ladies. Jay's brother, his wife, daughter, and Jay's mom came down to celebrate with us. The kids had a ton of fun.

We also had our ward Trunk or Treat. My very talented and thoughtful sister made Jack a Robin Hood costume since she knew I wasn't getting around to much this year. It turned out sooooo adorable. She should go into business :)

The furry boots are my favorite.

Although, the quiver is pretty cute, too :)

Happy October!

Well, it seems as if the pregnancy insomnia and 4:00 am food cravings have started, so I might as well blog while I am awake.

Jay's brother and family moved to VA in August. It is nice to have family so close now :) On Monday I disobeyed bed rest and we took Jack up to see them and his Grandma Holly who is visiting. We decided to go to the pumpkin patch, which I was so bummed we were going to miss this year when Dr. told me to sit for 8 weeks. So, I couldn't miss it :)

Jack had the time of his life. He chased goats.....

Hugged a pig so tightly that it squealed.....

Moon bounced with Jay....

Picked out a pumpkin....

And went down some slides. He loved every minute of it.

Jay helped Jack carve his first pumpkin while I sat on the couch trying to slow my contractions. Guess the Dr. knows what he is doing, eh? Sigh.

I decided to enter Jack into the Gap casting call so he could be a Gap model. Well, I couldn't get the site to work and then I realized some ugly kid already had like 40,000 votes, so maybe next year. Here is his photo shoot anyway, just because he is super cute.

32 weeks down! 2 more weeks of bed rest, 3 more after that of limited activity and then I can do whatever I want!! Wahoo!!

Man Troubles

I have always been glad that I am a girl. There are a lot of things that guys have to deal with that I never thought I would have to worry about. Problem is, I am the mother of nearly two boys and when they are little, their problems are my problems. So, I guess I have to deal with man issues anyway.

This morning while I was getting ready for church, Jack stripped down to his diaper. He then decided that wasn't naked enough so he lost the diaper. Suddenly, I had a little white lightning bolt running through my house giggling with the joys of a free willy :) A few minutes later I heard screaming.....the excruciating pain screaming. I ran out to the living room where I found Jack holding his wiener, doubled over on top of the movies. I put two and two together and realized that he had accidentally clamped the tip of his little man part in a DVD case. I tried to comfort him as best as I could since I have no idea how he feels. Mostly I just tried not to let him see me crack up. I got him dressed for church and he has spent the rest of today covering/protecting his goods. I had no idea it started so young. So much about adolescent boys is starting to make sense.

29 Weeks Down!

Well, 5 more weeks of bed rest. I have to admit that I will probably be a mental person at the end of the 5 weeks, but at least the baby will be a little bigger. Dr. Mike (yes, that is what he likes to be called) says at 34 weeks I can return to limited activity. My first activity? Can't decide....either scrubbing the walls or washing Jack's car seat. I have been dreaming of both, so obviously they are bothering me.

Jack loves Mary Poppins. Mostly he loves Bert. He will bring me the movie and put on his beret and he is pretty much happy as a clam. Thank you Disney for babysitting my child for the next 2 months.

I have been running out of ideas for bed rest activities with Jack. So, we did pedicures. I think red is definitely Jack's color.

Me in all my sweat pant glory. I guess this is my curse for saying how much I love to be at home in sweats. Be careful what you wish for :)

Home Remedies by Jack

Potty training is not going well. Jack really loves his diapers. So, sometimes I have to take his diapers away and just let him run around naked until he has to go. Sometimes he goes in the potty, most times he just brings me a diaper and begs me to put it on him.

During a naked session yesterday I was trying to get Jack to finish his dinner. I said, "Jack, come get some grapes! They will help you poop!". Jack said, "Help poop?!" and I said "Yes!". So he ran over, grabbed a grape off his plate and stuck it between his butt cheeks.

Constipation solved.

Thoughts from the couch

Don't you think this would be a good option for Jay's uniform while he is taking care of me for the next 2.5 months? :) I always wanted a cabana boy :) Clearly, I have too much time sitting around thinking about these things.
