Snakes and Snails
We are having another boy! Wahoo! Just what we were hoping for! Jack is thrilled to be having a "man" baby. The baby is growing and moving just great! The Dr. is a little concerned with how many contractions I am having so I am on limited activity for the next little while. I am going to be honest, it isn't that sad for me. Who wants to be running around all the time when they are pregnant anyway? If only Jack understood that I need to sit down a lot more.....guess it will be movie central around here for a while. I sure hope Jack likes The Holiday and Pride and Prejudice because I can only handle so much Clifford and Bob the Builder! Yay for boys!

Quirks
Most of you know that I have a few quirks. Who doesn't? I have come to realize that I am a homebody and a recluse....just a little. Years ago I would have been mortified if anyone knew I would rather stay home in my sweat pants than go out. Now, I feel pretty good about it :) Jay on the other hand is a social being and LOVES to have anyone over anytime or go anywhere anytime. He never gets irritated when people just drop by or when they call to do something spur of the moment. I like to have at least 2 days notice....for everything. I don't like when people just drop by and my house is trashed and I have Jack's snot smeared all over my shirt. I love my privacy and I love people to think that my house is always clean and that I always just made cookies. Ha!
Living in the city has been a difficult adjustment for my reclusiveness (is that a word?). Our neighbors knock on the door all the time to see Jack. There are door-to-door salesmen, and the missionaries just love Jay so they stop by sometimes. Anyway, a few months ago we had a missionary that would call the house and say, "Hi Sister Durrant!! This is Elder _______! I can see you in your kitchen right now! We are just downstairs. Is Brother Durrant home?" Seriously. A couple of times he called and would tell me what he could see me doing. I told him to stop looking in our window and that it was creepy. I feel bad about being so blunt, but he quit doing it, so it worked :) Then, just the other day, Jack was down for a nap and Jay and I were in the living room reading. Our little neighbor had borrowed Jay's football earlier that day and just walked into our apartment to return it. No knock, no nothing. Good thing Jay and I were just reading! Now our door is locked at all times.
Jay told me I need to lighten up. I told him he needs to buy me a house in the country.....with a gate.

Jay Found His Sound
You know the Friends episode where Ross pulls out his old keyboard to show everyone his "sound"? Well, apparently Jay found his too.

It's A......
Surprise!!! The cord was in the way and the legs were together. I always wanted a surprise baby, but Jay always said we were too poor for surprises :) Now that I got my wish I really would rather know! I have a regular appointment with the Dr. tomorrow. Maybe I can convince him to take a little peak :)

Cold Hard Truth
Being pregnant with baby number 2 is sometimes a little hard on the self-esteem.
This is a picture of me pregnant with Jack at 20 weeks. I kind of looked like I just had a big lunch.

This is a picture of me pregnant at 20 weeks this time.

So, my question is.... Is this baby going to be about 16 pounds when it is born, or is my body just that stretched out?
I am never going to have my 20 year old butt back, am I?
Sigh.

Colorado
We got to escape the Virginia humidity for almost 3 weeks! Colorado's weather was much more pleasant!! I went out with Jack for fun and Jay went out to work with his mom. We only got to see Jay on weekends and Jack was not pleased about that. But, we had a fabulous time!! So much fun that I didn't take many pictures!
Jack loved playing with his cousins. He tried soooo hard to keep up with them. He now has 3 little heroes that he asks me about each day. Poor Mya was just his punching bag, but he still asks about her, too :)
Don't you love the pet spiders?

Country life seems to suit Jack just fine. He wanted to be outside the WHOLE time. He loved playing in the hose and finding sticks and throwing rocks. He is pure boy.
This is why I love Colorado. Blue skies and views that go forever.

The best thing about being in Colorado was seeing my parents. After living with them for a year, it was hard to take Jack from them and move to Virginia. They were thrilled to have him there. He followed them around all day asking, "Whachoo doin'?". I'm sure they don't miss answering that question 100 times a day.

We are happy to be home, but can't wait to go back soon!!

Jay finished his summer class this past week! No more school until September!! Wahoo! We spent the weekend celebrating and doing nothing responsible :)
We spent Saturday with our friends Kaitlin, Taylor and Alyssa at the pool. It is always nice to have the guys with us. The kids preferred to play with their daddies and it gave us girls a chance to work on our tans :)
Jack and Alyssa are a funny pair. They get so excited to see each other and then they fight the whole time they are together. Jack torments poor Alyssa and teases her. I can't believe she ever wants to play with him. I am hoping we are having another boy. I just don't think Jack would quit bugging a sister.

Jack loves getting pictures taken. Can you tell?

On the 4th, we started off with daytime fireworks! I have never seen them before! These are smoke fireworks shot off from Mount Vernon (George Washington's plantation). We sat a little downriver from them and got a great show! It is so cool to live so close to so much history! Especially this time of year.

We were still in our church clothes, so we just rolled up Jack's pants so he wouldn't destroy them.

Jack found the puppy of his dreams. They sat in the shade together and played. It was love at first sight. I tried to get him to ask Jay for a puppy because I thought it might work better, but his language skills just aren't quite there yet :)

Later we met up with Kaitlin, Taylor and Alyssa for fireworks on Ft. Belvoir. It is the army base just a few miles from us. We thought of going up to the National Mall to see the fireworks but decided against taking Jack up there to fight the crowd with 300,000 other people. Our choice was wise and we had a great time on base! They put on a great show.
Jack and Alyssa really do have a fun time together....as long as there isn't a toy or snack to fight over :)
I thought I got a lot more pictures but apparently I didn't....so Kaitlin, I stole some from your blog :) Now you don't have to worry about emailing them to me :) Ha!

Kaitlin is 35 weeks along and I am just a measly 15. Doesn't she look great?!

We really like spending time with the Read's. Unfortunately they are moving to South Korea in a couple of months. I don't want to talk about it.

Aren't these two the cutest?
Once again Jack was really put out to have to have his picture taken while he was trying to play.

My two handsome men. I am one lucky girl!
Hope you all had a lovely 4th of July!
