HELP!!!!!

Jack is a climber. This sucks now but I assume when he is a grown man winning tons of money for rock climbing competitions I won't mind. Yesterday he climbed all the way to the top of his bouncy chair and almost catapulted himself across the room. Then it was the dishwasher. He had all 4 limbs up and was crawling inside (I know you are thinking, "Where were you?" Well, I was watching. I wanted to see how far he could get). He climbs over the back of the pews at church. He climbs up the couches. When you hold him he tries to climb over your shoulder. He has even started to try and climb the window blinds. I didn't actually know that was possible, but it is.

So, here is where the real problem comes in. He is trying to climb his crib. So far he just pulls himself up and holds onto the top rail. However, he CAN'T GET BACK DOWN. Which is unfortunate because then he cries and can't fall asleep. I have to go in and rescue him and then 3 minutes later he is right back up. Not too bright if you ask me, but he is only 8 months old. So my question is, are you allowed to use truck tie-downs on your kids?

Seriously, any suggestions are welcome.

"But It Wasn't Even Yellow!!"

There are many reasons that I love Jay. I am not going to get all mushy, but the biggest reason I love him is because he cracks me up.

Jay is in charge of Jack's bath each night. Mostly because he doesn't mind getting drenched and I don't like my hair to get wet :) Last night Jay was running the bath and Jack pulled himself up on the edge to watch it fill up. I went in to ask Jay something and noticed him wiping up the floor.

Me: "Oh, did Jack pee on the floor?"

Jay: "Oh crap. He did! I thought the bathtub was leaking so I have been running my hands in it trying to figure out where the leak was!"

Me: "Gross! You've been playing in Jack's pee?"

Jay: "I guess, but it wasn't even yellow!"

(Notice the dark part in the grout of the tile :) Ha!)

Jack doesn't like his toys anymore. He just plays with his Butt Paste. Weird.

I think this is my favorite face that Jack makes. He wrapped himself up in the rug and I was laughing so hard trying to get this picture that he made his sly face :)

When I Grow Up...

Random thoughts occur in the early morning hours when you are trying to stay awake and make sure your baby doesn't kill himself. It's like that "half eye open and if there is no crying or loud crashes, you are in good shape" kind of morning today :) I realize that I have my absolute dream job. I get to hang out with my bud all day, I get to play with toys, we have nap time and then I still have evenings off to be with Jay. I guess I always just wanted to be a mom, so it was a struggle from a young age when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up.

1. When I was 6 I wanted to be a country singer. Then I had to face reality. Can't sing. Can't dance. Don't have long blond hair.

2. When I was 12 I wanted to be a fashion designer. Then I realized my idea of designer is a little more normal than most designers. I mean, have you ever looked at Vogue? I would never think up half of that stuff.

3. When I was 16 I wanted to be an archaeologist. Then I realized, the pays sucks and most of the cool stuff has already been discovered.....and Indiana Jones is fictional.

4. Finally, this leads to the profession that I actually picked....massage therapy. While this career had its perks and learning experiences, I probably wasted a lot of money. Ha! However, if I hadn't done massage I would have missed out on the following....

  • Massaged a cage fighter. Who knew you had to train 8 hours a day just to get the crap beat out of you? Although, he did have a really long poem tattooed down his back so at least I had some reading material when he fell asleep.
  • Massaged a stripper. Without massaging her I would never have known that the Hunt Club in Ft. Collins is not actually a Polo or Fox Hunting Club, it's a topless bar. I also would not know that it is illegal to own a wolf in the city limits of Ft. Collins. (Yes, the stripper had a wolf.)
  • I got to rule out working in a bakery. I massaged the oldest man on the planet and his skin was pretty much like dough. When I massaged his back all of his skin ended up around his neck. Yep, never really have the urge to make bread now.
  • Massaged a wonderful couple for 3 years who took me on a helicopter ride, gave me their time share in Mexico for our honeymoon and very nearly killed me in a horse stampede.

So, for those of you still trying to find the perfect career.......good luck!

Eat Your Heart Out

It's official. Jack can get just about anywhere on his own. I am totally screwed.

But, no matter what he gets into, can you really get mad at a face like this?

Christmas is more important than blogging

So, life hits pause when it is Christmas time. No blogging, no exercising and definitely no starting new projects (or finishing old ones....like Jack's stocking...poor kid.) We spent days making cookies, fudge, caramel chocolate things....oh the joy!! Not so joyous when I tried to get my jeans buttoned, though :) Shopping and Christmas parties, watching a million Christmas movies. Ahhhh, it just doesn't get any better than that.

When I was 4, on the drive into preschool, I asked my mom how Santa was going to get down our chimney that year since the fireplace was broken. She said, "Lindsay, your dad and I put the gifts under the tree. There isn't a Santa. We have Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus. But, you can't tell the other kids that there isn't a Santa because their parents will be mad at me". So, I cried all day at preschool, my teacher asked me what was wrong, I told her that my mom said I couldn't tell. I really wonder what was going through her mind. My mom is lucky that she didn't call Childrens Services. Haha! Anyway, while I am glad that my mom always stressed the importance of the real reason we celebrate Christmas, I still get a little sad about Santa not being real. Sooooo, you better believe that I am going to tell Jack that he is real. We are going to make cookies for him and leave them by the fireplace with milk and carrots for the reindeer. I am going to make Jay go outside and ring jingle bells....the whole shabang.

P.S. If your kids are old enough to know about the whole "No Santa" thing, Jack can't hang out with them until he is at least 10, so they don't spoil it for him. And if you tell your kids from the very beginning that there isn't a Santa, then Jack can't ever hang out with them because who knows what other weird things you non-believers are teaching your kids.

Here is Jack on Christmas morning going for the presents and the tree. Notice how it is barely light outside? A boy after my own heart....wakes up before the crack of dawn on Christmas morning. So happy I have already taught him so much :) Ha!

I think it was a little soon to have him open his own presents. He looks a little bewildered. I put him down for a nap and then opened his presents and put them in his toy box. So much for wrapping them :)

I saw these at a White Elephant party a few years ago and then Jami sent me the instructions to make them. Maxi Pad slippers!! Wahoo!! :) I took them to a Young Women white elephant gift exchange. They were a hit :)

Jack's love of hats.....

This is Jack's sweet new trick. It is a full on bridge. No hands. He balances on his head and feet. Apparently he is going to be a wrestler.

Lounging in his bouncy chair. Think he is getting a little big.

Have a very fun New Year!! Good luck with your resolutions that will last 2 weeks :)

Don't do anything that I wouldn't do :)

I Britney Spears'd Myself - minus the mental breakdown

My sister, the bomb hairstylist, was in town last weekend. When I am around her my courage about hair skyrockets and I usually do something I wouldn't do without her saying, "Oh come on you big sissy. If you want your hair like that, do it!" So.....I did it. I'm still getting used to looking more like a boy than a girl. I have really pulled out the big guns with jewelry and make-up so that people are not confused. But, I love changing it up. Now I just need to put some sweet color in it :) Any suggestions??

I tried to do my best pissed off Victoria Beckham look, but I couldn't keep a straight face. Tadah!

My Inspirations :)

Grandma almost got run over by a huge deer

Remember the crazy stampeding deer that almost skewered us? Well, here is the beast. He was in our backyard harassing some helpless little gal who obviously wanted little to do with him. I dont think he was catching her signals.

Thanksgiving was great! We had tons of family and tons of food! We can't wait for Jay's family to move back to Colorado someday so we can see both families for each holiday! We tried to get some family pictures for Christmas. As you can see below, our attepmts were pretty sad.

Yesterday we got a TON of snow! Probably about a foot. We almost couldn't get out of the driveway for my sister's new baby, Mya's, blessing. Luckily we made it!!! Isn't it gorgeous???? I love Christmas time :)

Here is Jack mauling little Mya.

Jack and Jay playing in the snow. I am a really bad mom....Jack doesn't have a coat or a hat on :)
