29 Weeks Down!

Well, 5 more weeks of bed rest. I have to admit that I will probably be a mental person at the end of the 5 weeks, but at least the baby will be a little bigger. Dr. Mike (yes, that is what he likes to be called) says at 34 weeks I can return to limited activity. My first activity? Can't decide....either scrubbing the walls or washing Jack's car seat. I have been dreaming of both, so obviously they are bothering me.

Jack loves Mary Poppins. Mostly he loves Bert. He will bring me the movie and put on his beret and he is pretty much happy as a clam. Thank you Disney for babysitting my child for the next 2 months.

I have been running out of ideas for bed rest activities with Jack. So, we did pedicures. I think red is definitely Jack's color.

Me in all my sweat pant glory. I guess this is my curse for saying how much I love to be at home in sweats. Be careful what you wish for :)

Home Remedies by Jack

Potty training is not going well. Jack really loves his diapers. So, sometimes I have to take his diapers away and just let him run around naked until he has to go. Sometimes he goes in the potty, most times he just brings me a diaper and begs me to put it on him.

During a naked session yesterday I was trying to get Jack to finish his dinner. I said, "Jack, come get some grapes! They will help you poop!". Jack said, "Help poop?!" and I said "Yes!". So he ran over, grabbed a grape off his plate and stuck it between his butt cheeks.

Constipation solved.

Thoughts from the couch

Don't you think this would be a good option for Jay's uniform while he is taking care of me for the next 2.5 months? :) I always wanted a cabana boy :) Clearly, I have too much time sitting around thinking about these things.

So Lucky

For those of you wondering what Jack has been up to while I have been on bed rest, this is about it......

Harry Potter, Corpse Bride and Elf over and over again.

But to mix it up, he puts on cowboy boots and watches movies on the computer.....

And studies with his daddy.

I'm so lucky to have these two. Jack is a homebody like me so he doesn't mind being home all day with me while I lounge around. In fact, when he does go somewhere with Jay he whines to come back home. Jay has been WONDERFUL. I couldn't ask for a better husband. He manages to feed us, go grocery shopping, take Jack to the library and church, clean the house, study, apply for internships, be Elders Quorum president and look hot. He is my Superman.

This is me as of last week. I had a sonogram today to measure the baby so they know about where he is at. He is 2lbs. 11 oz., healthy and super cute. Plus, he is measuring a week ahead, which is fine with me if he is so eager to come out. Not great if he decides to get comfortable and stay in full term :)

Princess for a week

Today my Dr. put me on temporary bed rest. I was having too many contractions for his liking. He put me on medication last week to help with them, but it only helped a little. Quite frankly, 3 contractions an hour is way better than 6. I thought it was an improvement! :) Not so much to him. So for the next week I have to stay very still and get my contractions to slow down. He told me to have Jay baby me and treat me like a princess. I don't think my Dr. remembers I have a 2 year old or that Jay is studying full time:) Anyone want to borrow Jack for a week? He is very cute, very inventive and very fast. Luckily, Jay is home everyday except for Wednesday nights so this really shouldn't be too bad.....for me at least. I think Jay might have another opinion :)

Any good book recommendations?

Snakes and Snails

We are having another boy! Wahoo! Just what we were hoping for! Jack is thrilled to be having a "man" baby. The baby is growing and moving just great! The Dr. is a little concerned with how many contractions I am having so I am on limited activity for the next little while. I am going to be honest, it isn't that sad for me. Who wants to be running around all the time when they are pregnant anyway? If only Jack understood that I need to sit down a lot more.....guess it will be movie central around here for a while. I sure hope Jack likes The Holiday and Pride and Prejudice because I can only handle so much Clifford and Bob the Builder! Yay for boys!

Quirks

Most of you know that I have a few quirks. Who doesn't? I have come to realize that I am a homebody and a recluse....just a little. Years ago I would have been mortified if anyone knew I would rather stay home in my sweat pants than go out. Now, I feel pretty good about it :) Jay on the other hand is a social being and LOVES to have anyone over anytime or go anywhere anytime. He never gets irritated when people just drop by or when they call to do something spur of the moment. I like to have at least 2 days notice....for everything. I don't like when people just drop by and my house is trashed and I have Jack's snot smeared all over my shirt. I love my privacy and I love people to think that my house is always clean and that I always just made cookies. Ha!

Living in the city has been a difficult adjustment for my reclusiveness (is that a word?). Our neighbors knock on the door all the time to see Jack. There are door-to-door salesmen, and the missionaries just love Jay so they stop by sometimes. Anyway, a few months ago we had a missionary that would call the house and say, "Hi Sister Durrant!! This is Elder _______! I can see you in your kitchen right now! We are just downstairs. Is Brother Durrant home?" Seriously. A couple of times he called and would tell me what he could see me doing. I told him to stop looking in our window and that it was creepy. I feel bad about being so blunt, but he quit doing it, so it worked :) Then, just the other day, Jack was down for a nap and Jay and I were in the living room reading. Our little neighbor had borrowed Jay's football earlier that day and just walked into our apartment to return it. No knock, no nothing. Good thing Jay and I were just reading! Now our door is locked at all times.

Jay told me I need to lighten up. I told him he needs to buy me a house in the country.....with a gate.
