Jay finished his summer class this past week! No more school until September!! Wahoo! We spent the weekend celebrating and doing nothing responsible :)

We spent Saturday with our friends Kaitlin, Taylor and Alyssa at the pool. It is always nice to have the guys with us. The kids preferred to play with their daddies and it gave us girls a chance to work on our tans :)

Jack and Alyssa are a funny pair. They get so excited to see each other and then they fight the whole time they are together. Jack torments poor Alyssa and teases her. I can't believe she ever wants to play with him. I am hoping we are having another boy. I just don't think Jack would quit bugging a sister.

Jack loves getting pictures taken. Can you tell?

On the 4th, we started off with daytime fireworks! I have never seen them before! These are smoke fireworks shot off from Mount Vernon (George Washington's plantation). We sat a little downriver from them and got a great show! It is so cool to live so close to so much history! Especially this time of year.

We were still in our church clothes, so we just rolled up Jack's pants so he wouldn't destroy them.

Jack found the puppy of his dreams. They sat in the shade together and played. It was love at first sight. I tried to get him to ask Jay for a puppy because I thought it might work better, but his language skills just aren't quite there yet :)

Later we met up with Kaitlin, Taylor and Alyssa for fireworks on Ft. Belvoir. It is the army base just a few miles from us. We thought of going up to the National Mall to see the fireworks but decided against taking Jack up there to fight the crowd with 300,000 other people. Our choice was wise and we had a great time on base! They put on a great show.

Jack and Alyssa really do have a fun time together....as long as there isn't a toy or snack to fight over :)

I thought I got a lot more pictures but apparently I didn't....so Kaitlin, I stole some from your blog :) Now you don't have to worry about emailing them to me :) Ha!

Kaitlin is 35 weeks along and I am just a measly 15. Doesn't she look great?!

We really like spending time with the Read's. Unfortunately they are moving to South Korea in a couple of months. I don't want to talk about it.

Aren't these two the cutest?

Once again Jack was really put out to have to have his picture taken while he was trying to play.

My two handsome men. I am one lucky girl!

Hope you all had a lovely 4th of July!

Pregnancy according to Jack

Jack thinks morning sickness is hilarious. Every time I am sick he is right behind me to mimic after I finish. This actually came in handy when he had the flu and threw up in the toilet instead of on the carpet!! One positive side of morning sickness!

Boobies

Jay takes Jack to the pool on days that I have to work. They have a great time and always stay for hours. Today Jay had to bring Jack home early because Jack wouldn't stop pointing at all of the girls and saying, "Boobies!!". Our kid is a perv.

Le Bea!

We took a little trip down to Virginia Beach for Memorial Day. Since Jack now only speaks French, he calls the beach "Le Bea!". We have no idea where it came from, but he puts "le" in front of everything. "Le Puppy", "Le Poop", "Le Bobble" (drink), "Le Ball". It is very cute and we are encouraging it :)

Monday the beach was very crowded, but Tuesday we practically had it to ourselves. Jack LOVED the water and threw a fit every time he had to come out to eat or sunscreen. He didn't get the whole sandcastle idea, but he liked to dig.

My hot Jay. Good job keeping up on your hot bod :)

Jack passed out as soon as we got in the car to come home. He slept nearly the whole way. I guess the sand in his butt crack didn't bother him that much.

Love At Home?

Jack tries my patience every day. I vacuum the carpet, he smashes in some goldfish. I make him dinner and he launches a spoonful into my hair. I try to kiss him and he takes a swing at me.

I would love to say that our home is always filled with joy and happiness....a house of order and peace....but that would be a lie :) I really can't complain too much. Jack has really been an easy kid so far and Jay is home most of the time to help me. However, as Jack has gotten a little older and a little more independent, we are butting heads more often. What do I do? What happens when he screams at the top of his lungs and starts pinching my face and pulling my hair? What should I do when I ask him not to color on the table and he looks at me and smiles and slowly draws a huge line of crayon across it? I'm not sure what to do so I will do what I usually do when I have a hard time with someone. I will try and list his good qualities as a reminder of why I love him so much.

1. He has a GREAT fake laugh. Any time he wants someone to laugh with him (whether something is funny or not) he gets this huge grin and makes this really great guttural chuckle.

2. He has the cutest run I have ever seen. One arm stays kind of straight and the other pumps while his legs go as fast as they can.

3. He loves to sing. He calls it "ninging". He will point to your mouth and say "Ning!!"

4. He says "yuv you" and smacks his lips together when he is ready to go to bed.

5. He makes friends with everyone. The other day an old man was at the park sitting on a bench. Jack hoisted himself up next to him and put his arm around the old man. I am pretty sure we are going to have to have the talk about strangers soon.

6. He loves to swim....even when he is shivering and his lips are blue.

7. He barks every time he sees a dog.

8. He fixes things. The other day he was playing with the electric screwdriver. He was pretending to unscrew our vent. After a few minutes of pretending I checked on him and he had successfully unscrewed 3 of the 6 screws holding up our vent. He was so proud....I was horrified...and Jay was about to call the president to brag about our skilled child.

9. He loves Jay so much and wants to do everything just like him. He is Jay's mini me.

10. He has such a sweet and tender little heart.

There! I think it worked! Now when he gets up from his nap I can be a calm and loving mother :)

Jack is 2!!!

On Saturday, Jack turned TWO!!! Can you believe it? Soon he will be kissing girls and going to college. Well, let's face it, he already kisses girls....and boys for that matter.

We had a great birthday party for him with lots of our friends. Jack was thrilled to be the center of attention and played his part as the gracious host beautifully.

Jack got some really great presents from his friends. He loves his birthday and can't wait to do it again. I'm glad he doesn't understand how long a year is :)

After the party, Jay and I gave him his present. A very cool tricycle. Jack and his friend Demetrius helped Jay put it together. Jack was actually sad when it was all together. I guess he was having more fun with the screwdrivers and male bonding.

But, he decided his bike is pretty sweet.

Luckily working for a bakery has a few perks :) Jack got a beautiful and delicious cake! We sang happy birthday and he blew out the candle all by himself. He is so grown up! Enjoy the video!
